Editorial Policy

This page explains how Desworthy separates reader-focused coverage from affiliate revenue, samples, and brand relationships — in plain terms, not legal boilerplate.

Independence rules

  • A brand cannot pay for a positive verdict, a higher ranking, or the removal of a criticism.
  • Affiliate relationships do not influence which products we choose to compare or which one we recommend.
  • If we accept a sample or loaner unit, we say so on the page — accepting one does not guarantee coverage or a favorable outcome.

Disclosure

Any page with affiliate links carries a disclosure near the first shopping decision point, not just buried in a footer link. Affiliate links, samples, sponsorship discussions, or other material relationships are not hidden in vague language.

Samples, gifts, and review units

If a product was supplied by a brand, borrowed, discounted for review, or otherwise provided with a material relationship attached, that fact should be clear in the relevant content. Accepting a sample does not guarantee coverage, positive placement, or silence about flaws.

Corrections and updates

When we get a valid correction, we verify the source, fix the page, and note what changed. We prioritize changes that affect reader cost, safety, product fit, warranty interpretation, availability, or disclosure clarity. We do not quietly delete criticism because it makes a brand conversation awkward — we only remove content that is factually wrong.

Negative findings stay if they help readers

Mixed verdicts, cautionary notes, and outright criticism are part of useful editorial coverage. A brand may supply evidence that a factual point is wrong, but criticism is not removed simply because it hurts conversion or makes a partnership conversation less convenient.

AI-assisted research

We use editorial tools to help organize research and structure drafts, but every buying recommendation is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Hands-on claims must come from actual testing notes or verified manufacturer sources, not generated filler language.
